Regarding:

Hey Prefects!

This is the message to us by Mr Queck, especially to the orientation leaders.

You got to have the right behaviours and attitude to become a prefect. And you are nominated and selected because you fulfilled most of the many criteria. Being one of the many prefects in school, you need to uphold the name and reputation of the prefects and the school. It is not going to be easy especially that you need to handle your hefty school work and CCA. However, this would definitely build your abilities in time management and people management. Not forgetting of building your self confident and esteem. This will be great help when you go for job interview or career advancement!

Coming back to issue of good behavoiur, I strongly believe most of you are doing very well but there are some of you whom you know you need to buck up! You shouldn't choose to be good when you like it or when you like to express the good behaviour in front of someone only but instead, it should come out naturally from you whenever you go and whatever you do! If you are not up there yet, there's still plenty of opportunity for you to learn if you are sincere enough. No need to tell anyone what you are doing, people are always watching and reward will come one day.Remember this, " Do things without asking what will you get in return and I believe the return will eventually be even bigger than you can imagine!" This hasn't been a great impact on me but for all of you, I'm sure that you can do it because YOU can be BETTER! I might not be here when you are back with your successful stories to share but do come back to share with all your juniors how great the experience as a prefect in school have help you in your everyday life! You can impart value to your peers! All of you are the extra pair of eyes, ears and hands of your teachers. Most importantly you could be the right key to open up the door of many individual or friends. Do cherish the moment you have in secondary school, it will be the greatest memory of all in your life!

You have all done well in the orientation for the secondary 1. Thus I prepared something for you to remember. It's not going to be expensive, it many not be attractive to you too; and there might be some defects here and there but I hope that it reminds you that you once put in some effort in organising a big event.

I have here bookmarks for various class leaders and a key chain or hanging deco for your bags for all the prefects who are in the picture (52 not including Mr Leong)

A small gift for Bing Xuan for doing such a wonderful demonstration for 7A2. There are definitely more quality leaders out there that I didn't have time to notice, I apologize.

Also a small gift for April who still insist to come to school and carry on her duties after having a bad sore throat the week after the orientation. This is what DISCIPLINE is all about!

This is not the end, but this is just the beginning of your real life in real world!

Mr Queck
January 2011.

I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Queck for taking his time off to write such an encouraging and touching message to the prefects. Thank you for your gifts too!
